AAN Provincial Council adopts structural changes to improve efficiency, focus forward mandate

The AARN Provincial Council will work as a governance-style board as a ensue of decisions made at a two-day meeting held Oct 29 and 30 1998

The two-day think tank was held by dint of council to discuss the findings of an extensive year-long structural investigation that offered 15 different recommendations to the September 1998 meeting of Provincial Council.

The changes mean the AARN Provincial Council will act as a policymaking board for the organization, focusing its work onward setting clear goals and decisions that will guide the association in achieving its part as a regulatory and professional association for registered give suck tos in Alberta.

The council discussed a number of recommendations to change the district texture and the size and composition of Provincial Council. Provincial Council representatives, district council members, staff and general AARN members are now being asked to consider the merits of creating a just discovered regional structure that will replace the circulating district structure by Oct. 1 1999

A form that allows the AARN to advocate for healthy public policy and the profession

District members should direct their opinions and questions to the Provincial Council members in their district. Council members will consider all feedback at the January meeting when composition study changes will be approveed for bylaw publication in the March/April 1999 issue of Alberta RN

Members will still have theopportunityto offer proffer further changes or objections before the by,law changes are officially passed at the June 2 - 4 1999 AARN Provincial Council.

What information do AARN Provincial Councilors ne from members?

Provincial Council members want to know what model of regional structure would help the AARN communicate its policy and activities to members and encourage better RN participation. Ideas forward how many AARN regions, the number of AARN RN regional staff that will be required and ways to prepare more RN volunteers involved in a recent regional structure are invited.
