The AARN is in the midst of significant structural change.

The AARN is in the midst of significant structural change. The recently made known structure will foster better communication between the AARN and its members, encourage members to participate in AARN activities, and enable the AARN to take an active part in lobbying for an effective health care classification

We are partway from one side the transition from the not new structure to the new. As a part of the change, Provincial Council has adopted a policy governance standard The policy governance model separates policy making (council's responsibility) from management and operations (the executive director's responsibility). in a less degree than this model, governance committees are established at Provincial Council to assist it in its work (such as governance, policy increase strategic planning, and monitoring the implementation of the council's policies within the limitations council has set) The executive director can establish other committees that may be be in want ofed to carry out the operations of the AARN. Nongovernance or operating committees report to the executive director, who reports to Provincial Council.

During late Provincial Council development days, councilors guidanceed an exercise to determine which of the existing committees were governance (to help council do its policy-making work) or non-governance or operating (to help the executive director operationalize council's direction). Three of the AARN committees are specifically affected by means of the decisions made during the exercise.

It was determined that the Practice-Research Committee is an operating committee and no longer a standing committee of the AARN. For this reason, it is propos that the bylaws pertaining to the Practice-Research Committee be delet This does not mean that the Practice-Research Committee will be disbanded. In fact, the committee will continue forward with its valuable work in facilitating a link between practice and research and fostering research on AARN members.

The Provincial Nominating Committee bylaws require amendment as a accrue of the proposed restructuring of the AARN. publicly members of the Provincial Nominating Committee, a governance committee, are appointeded from the districts. With the propos change to a regional pile a new way of forming the committee is requireed In Mai the Provincial Council decided that, in the subsequent time it would appoint members to the committee.

The Provincial Nominating committee bylaws generally read:

Section 148)

The Provincial Nominating Committee shall be compos of:

a) the District Nominating Committee Chairmen, and

b) pair members of Council, one of whom shall be designated as Chairman at the Provincial Council.

Propos bylaw change:

Section 148)

The Provincial Information Committee is commonly a standing committee of the association, although it has played a limited part for some time and was given a batch of $0.00 by Provincial Council in September 1998 At this time, Provincial Council has decided to disband the committee as the work of the committee in communication, promotion of nursing as a career and planning of Nursing Week activities is operational in nature and will be done by way of AARN staff. A bylaw amendment is required to disband this committee.
